An electrothermal process for making aluminum-silicon alloy is at around 2000°C. Alumina and silicon oxide, which are liquids during the metallurgical processes, are reduced by a carbonaceous agent. The maximum temperature the submerged arcane can achieve is usually about 1350°C to about 2200°C.
