Molybdenum Disilicide is an organic compound with the chemical composition MoSi2. It is a gray metallic liquid. Although insoluble in many acids, it is soluble in nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid. Both the radii and electronegativities of these atoms do not differ much. They also have properties that are similar to metals or ceramics. Molybdenum Disilicide can be made electricallyconductive at high temperatures. A passivation layer with silicon dioxide can then be placed on the surface. This will prevent any further oxidation. It can be used as a high temperature antioxidation coating material, integrated electro films, structural materials and reinforcing agents in composite materials.


Molybdenum Siicide:


MoSi2 (intermediate phase) is the most silicon-rich in the MoSi binary alloy system. This is a Dalton-type, intermetallic compound having a fixed structure. This high-temperature material has great performance because of its dual qualities as a metal and ceramic. Excellent high temperature oxidation resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 1600 degrees Celsius, equivalent to SiC. MoSi is soft and malleable, and it can even be used as a metal substitute. MoSi is used mainly as heating elements in integrated circuits.

MoSi2 consists of silicon and molybdenum bonded with metal bonds. In MoSi2, silicon and silicon are also bonded via covalent bonds. Molybdenum Disilicide is a gray, tetragonal crystal. It is not soluble or soluble with common mineral acids such as aqua regia, but it can be dissolved in mixed acids of hydrofluoric and nitric acids. It can be used to heat elements in high-temperature (1700), oxidizing environments due to its high resistance against high-temperature oxygenation.

An oxidizing atmosphere forms a protective layer on the surface dense quartz glass (SiO2) that has been heated to high temperatures. It prevents continuous molybdenum diilicide oxidation. SiO2 fused with SiO2 at 1710degC is what forms a protective coating. The action of expanding its surface causes it to lose its protective power. The oxidant acts on the element and forms a protective coating. The element can not be used at temperatures between 400 and 700 degrees C for long periods due to its strong oxidation.

Molybdenum Silicide:


You can use molybdenum disilicide in high-temperature anti-oxidation materials, electric heating element elements, structural materials and reinforcing agents of composite materials. Wear-resistant materials are also used.
