What is Be3N2 called?
Beryllium nitride. (Be3N2)Unlike Ben6 and beryllium azide, this material breaks down into nitrogen and beryllium in vacuum. It decomposes easily to ammonia and hydroxide. Two polymorphic forms of a cubic a-Be3N2 or hexagonal b be3N2 are known with defective antifluorite structure. BeSin2 is formed by a reaction between silicon nitride (SiN) and silicon NiTride in ammonia at 1800-1900degC.
Is beryllium reactive with nitrogen?
Beryllium reacts with nitrogen to form berylliumnitride. This reaction occurs between 700-900degC.
Be3N2 Ion or Covalent?
In accordance with this analysis, the Be3N2 monolayer appears to be a honeycomb structure made up of six rings consisting N-BeN covalent bonds. The electrical properties of Be3N2 were studied by calculating its energy band structure.
It is made by heating beryllium metal with nitrogen powder at high temperature (1100-1500degC). It is highly reactive and oxidizes quickly in the atmosphere at 600 deg C.
It is a white, fine crystal that is stable with a-Be3N2, a cubic crystal centered on the bore. It can be converted to a high-temperature Be3N2 hexagonal crystal when heated up to 1400. It is stable in air, but oxidizes rapidly at 600 degrees. Ammonia releases when in contact with water. It promotes hydrolysis, whether the solution is acidic or alkaline.

What is Beryllium Nitride Be3N2 Powder produced?
In an oxygen-free environment, a beryllium powder is heated with dry nitrogen at temperatures between 700°C and 1400°C.
Heat ammonia in a stream to prepare the metal beryllium. This has a quick reaction and high yield.

The metal beryllium is crushed in a mortar made of steel and sieved (with a sieve with 1600 Wells per cm2), then placed in corundum boats. In a porcelain pipe, dried ammonia gases are inserted and heated to 850 deg C for three hours. The sample will be ground into fine powder and heated at 1000 deg C with an ammonia flow in an agate grinder. The beryllium beryllide Be3N2 obtained after three repeated operations has a purity between 94% and 95%.
