Vanadium Carbide VC – Powder Information
Vanadium carbide Is an inorganic compound. Vanadium carbide The formula for calculating the amount of money to be paid is: Black cubic crystals. Black cubic crystals. Vanadium carbide melting point It is 2810degC. Vanadium carbide Boiling point The density relative is 5.77. The hardness is between 9 and 9.5 Moher. This is slightly higher than quartz. It could be the hardest metal known. It is found in many vanadium alloys and metals. Vanadium carbonate can be made by reducing vanadium nitrate with coke. Mostly used in the production of vanadium-steel. Use as additives in cemented carbide.

It is the same as vanadium monooxide, and it crystallizes with the rock salt structure. Since VC and VO can be dissolved together, VC samples are usually contaminated with oxide impurities. The material is produced by heating vanadium and carbon to about 1000degC. VC, although thermodynamically stable at low temperatures, converts into V2C when heated.

Performance of Vanadium carbide VC powder
Vanadium Carbide,Chemical Formula VC,Molecular Weight 62.95,Carbon content 19.08%,Density 5,41g/cm3,Melting Point 2800oC,Boiling Point 3900oC.Vanadium carburide is gray metallic powder, with cubic system structure, NaCl type. The crystalline constant of the vanadium is 4.182A. The carbide is chemically resistant and exhibits excellent properties for high-temperature use. It can be applied in the steel and cutting tool industries. Also, it can be used to fine the WC-cemented carbide crystal in order to improve the alloy’s properties.

How is Vanadium Carbide VC Powder made?
Under high vacuum conditions and at temperatures above 1300°C, prepare the carbonized vanadium by combining the carbon powder with the vanadium oxide.
The gas-phase method can be used to make pure VC. The hydrogen-containing hydrocarbon gas and tetrachloride (VCl4) vapor. A tungsten cable is directly energized in order to heat it. The temperature of tungsten should be kept at or below 1400 deg. C. to avoid the metal vanadium wire and tungsten generated during the initial reaction. To complete the carbonization process, after a strong VC coating is formed, the temperature is increased to 2000 deg C. The precipitation is gray-white and crystalline.
Preparation using metal vanadium. The metal vanadium, or hydrogenated powder, should be mixed with carbon black and less than 325 Mesh (preferably below the mixture micrometers). Pressurized vanadium (about 1 tonne/cm2) is formed when metal powder is mixed under high pressure (about 3 ton/cm2). This pressurized, heated powder is placed in a crucible of graphite (in a vacuum of 1-33322Pa) and kept at 1800-2100 deg C for one hour. ).
4. Adopt a method of reduction. The carbon powder and vanadium oxide are thoroughly mixed, then the carbonized vanadium is prepared under vacuum at temperatures of up to 1300 degrees C.

Applications Vanadium Carbide VC Powder:
Vanadium Carbide is used in a variety of ways. Addition of vanadium carbide to steel improves the properties of steel, including wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Vanadium carbide is used as a novel catalyst due to its high selectivity, stability, and resistance to “catalyst-poisoning” in hydrocarbon reactions.
Vanadium Carbide is also used to create diamond as a new source of carbon. The main role of vanadium carbide is to act as grain inhibitors in cemented carbide, cermet and other materials. It can effectively stop the growth of WC during sintering.
The vanadium carbide is added to the cemented carbide in order to refine the crystals of carbide and increase the hardness.
Vanadium Carbide is used in steelmaking and cutting tools industries as a grain refiner. It can enhance the properties of alloys.
Vanadium carbide can be used in the production of wear-resistant films, semiconductor films and for cutting hard alloys.

Storage condition of vanadium Carbide powder :
Vanadium carbide VC powder should be stored in a dry, cool, and air-tight environment. It should not be exposed.
