Sodium laurate is a fine white powder. It’s soluble in hot ethyl and water; and it’s only slightly soluble in cold alcohol.


How is Sodium Laurate produced?
1. Add the palm or coconut oil to a saponification kettle, and then heat it directly with steam.
2. The crude soap is obtained by adding NaOH three times to aqueous solutions and saponifying at reflux temperatures for approximately 6 hours.
3. To get soap glue, add saltwater to the crude soap and stand it up. Separate impurities from by-products like glycerin.
4. You can get sodium laurate by adjusting pH to around 8.5 using lye.
